Omar Robert Hamilton is an author and film-maker.

A contributor to the Guardian, the London Review of Books and Egypt’s Mada Masr, he was a founding member of the Mosireen Collective, an activist media group that worked to document the Egyptian uprising from the street level, making dozens of short documentaries that were viewed over six million times on their official YouTube channel alone.

His first novel The City Always Wins drew from these experiences, was published by Faber & Faber in 2017 and won a couple of good awards.

Over the last five years he has spent time in various points on the migration path through Europe, volunteering, translating and writing for n+1 and Guernica.
